'Our Ppk went from 0.8 to 1.4 thanks to Ellistat APC'

'I had already been involved with this large manufacturer for SPC consulting missions,' recalls Davy Pillet, CEO of Ellistat. In 2017, I suggested that they test Ellistat to help them with machine tool settings. They were among the first customers in the watchmaking industry to trust us and to test our solution, and it is with them that we improved it so that it meets the field needs of watchmaking manufacturers. 'This is one of Ellistat's strong points that should not be overlooked: the responsiveness of the development teams to requests for software improvements is really appreciated,' adds the Quality Method Manager. At that time, the main problem encountered by the company was the costs related to scrap rates. In the watchmaking industry, the parts are complex and therefore difficult to adjust and the materials used make the costs even higher. The Ppk was 0.8 before the implementation of Ellistat APC on their part. The progress manager told us: 'We have gone to a Ppk of 1.4, which corresponds to a 90% reduction in the scrap rate. The gains were measured as soon as the solution was implemented in our workshop and we did not have to wait to see the return on investment. Today, 100% of the machines are equipped with Automated Process Control. The implementation of Ellistat APC has met the expectations of the management by reducing scrap and costs, but also the expectations of the operators and adjusters on the shop floor and they say, 'We don't bother with calculating machine settings anymore, Ellistat APC does the calculations for us, it frees up our time to focus on running the shop floor and there is plenty to do.'
